Daniel Negreanu Goes to Hamilton
The city of Hamilton, Ontario was abuzz with excitement on February 8th as
it anticipated the return of Canadian poker star Daniel Negreanu for a
special event against the locals at the Red Hot Poker Tour’s amateur
no-money tournament.
Daniel Negreanu is arguably the most successful tournament poker player in
history, with a total of three World Series of Poker bracelets and fresh off
of his latest World Series of Poker triumphs, where he earned $755,525 on
the circuit championship in Tunica, Mississippi.
Negreanu has received many honors in the poker world, including 2004
Cardplayer Magazine’s Player of the Year, 2004 Champion Player of the Year,
2004 ESPN Player of the Year, and 2004-2005 World Poker Tour Player of the
Year.
Negreanu is the face of the new generation of poker, having been a well
known player on the circuit since the age of 23. He is one of the most
highly visible young poker stars, appearing regularly on ESPN and the Fox
Sports Network, and offering advice on how to play the game as a columnist
for CardPlayer Magazine and in Super System 2. Negreanu also enjoys playing
hockey, comedy, writing, and golf.
The winner of the Red Hot Poker Tour’s Tournament of Champions, which takes
place on April 1st, has been invited by Negreanu to become his student for
the next four months, in his continuing effort to continue the international
popularity of poker and to help amateurs realize their dreams of playing
poker professionally.
