Hold'em Power Raises When playing No Limit Hold'em, you need to think big in terms of raising when you find yourself with a good hand. Suppose the stakes are right and fit your bankroll, as in $1 small blind; $2 big blind. And like the online texas holdem games you’ve dabbled in, there’s a limit on the buy-in. No one can buy in for more than $100. Go for it: What have you got to lose? What you want to do is full advantage of the no-limit betting structure by betting much more aggressively than your opponent. Suppose you’re in early position with a pair of Jacks. That’s a strong hand in holdem. But it’s not a by any means and elite hand. You opponents could be holding Queens, Kings, or Aces. Even if they only have one card higher that your pair, they may improve and better their hand on the flop. It's important that your bets be serious and that they come across as such, even if you are betting for information, you need your bet to be significant enough to induce a notable response from your opponents. So when playing Texas Hold'em make sure that you bet with confidence, which will give you auro of power. Also, make it a point to look around the table and observe the actions of your opponents. As a general rule of thumb, if you discover those who routinely bet and rasie base on the size of previous bets, that's a tell-tale sign that they're weak no-limit players, so you'll want to make a mental note that they will be ripe for future intimidation so you can expect to walk away with their money. |
