Poker Faces It's very common to hear about "poker faces" which are mostly forced expressions of looking indifferent, so as to not give away your emotional state to your opponent, based on the hand you have. To go with the expressionless poker face, body language must also be consistent with that of the face, lacking any sort of emotion. The truth is, the human body has a hard time just "shutting off" any types of emotional displays, and feels very unnatural...sort of like keeping your eyes open without blinking, while at the same time trying to keep a normal expression when your willing your eyes not to shut....not an easy thing to do, as is keeping your entire body devoid of showing any emotion whatsoever. So in attempting to remain completely still-faced and robot-like, this is actually when the poker-faced person is most vulnerable to give themself away. It is this stereotypical poker-face that is something you want to avoid at all costs, contrary to popular belief. As a matter of fact, a decent poker face simply means not revealing what card your holding and stay mentaly strong. Forget about the awkwardness of trying to keep a straight-face...you'll end up drawing more attention to yourself.
